Hello anons,

Last weekend we launched a puzzle where the winner would walk away with CryptoPunk #6925, but since it went unsolved we decided to run it back this weekend to give the community another shot at him.

The submission window was open for 48 hours, we received 200 total submissions, 65 correct submissions, and the winner was…

Congratulations!! We’ll send your Punk over shortly, take good care of him :)

For those interested, here’s the solution to the riddle:

  1. The first thing to do to solve this riddle is to figure out what the images contained within represent. Whilst each image can have different meanings, only particular meanings will unlock the puzzle. The following are the words looked for:

There are other phrases within the puzzle that have dual meanings and are meant to help decipher one or more of the images. For instance, the term ‘full house’ is meant in the riddle as a whole to mean an actual house but has been used on purpose as it is a poker reference, and the puzzle is about a game that involves cards. This connects to the word ‘deal’ and also the word ‘play’. The only word that is likely not to be worked out until close to the end of the puzzle is the ‘scarlet’, although it can be interchanged with the word ‘red’ easily and doesn’t affect the deciphering of the riddle.

2) With the idea now that it is possibly a game that is being searched for, the riddle can be looked at line by line with that in mind:

“Not part of the deal are three left aside” — Three cards are set aside when the initial dealing of cards is done.

“Keeping secret the answers that they can provide” — These three set aside cards have information on them that is kept secret.

“The search then begins for who left another departed” — After the cards have been dealt and the three cards have been set aside, a search for someone who murdered another begins.

“Tradition suggesting that scarlet gets things started” — Traditionally, the first player to play is the scarlet (or red) player (in this case, the character called Miss Scarlet).

“Then, if a full house, the play moves on with 4 more, before a teacher named after which food can explore?” — After the scarlet player, if all characters are being played, 4 players play before a character who is a teacher named after a food can be played.

Having put all this together, the game being reference is obviously Cluedo (Clue to some). Because of the this, it is the character referenced in the final line is the only teacher in the game, and the only one whose name is also a food: Professor Plum.

Therefore, the answer is the food in his name: PLUM

Some things to note:

— The colours of the image are the 6 original character colours in Cluedo (white, mustard, scarlet, peacock (blue), green and plum (purple)).

— The term ‘full house’ also references the fact that the game famously takes place in Mr. Boddy’s mansion.

— A magnifying glass also appears as part of the Cluedo logo in many editions of the game.

Nice work, Anons. We know that some of you worked very hard to try and figure out the riddle and appreciate all of your efforts.
